About Me

MelissaI have always been a pretty active person.  In my younger years I skated, danced, worked out 5-6 times a week, did “American Kickboxing” at a Tae-Kwan-Do studio, and even did some personal training on the side.  During my pregnancy with my twins, the scale topped out at 226 lbs and 2 years after they were born I still weighed 189 lbs! Frustrated with my lack of results after never finding time at home to work out with my busy schedule, my friend joined CKO a few weeks earlier & said how much she loved it & begged me to go with her.  I didn’t think that I had the time to commit to going, but when I finally decided to go I loved it, even though I almost passed out & felt like I was going to be “sick”.  I joined that evening and immediately signed up for the 10 week nutritional program.  I knew exactly what I needed to eat, but the accountability to have to write it down and showmedals someone else really made me more conscious about what I was eating.  Many who know me now would not believe that I struggled to do 30 push ups in 1 minute (on both knees) and could barely make it through the abs portion but the instructors pushed me beyond my comfort level & I became addicted to how great (and sore) I felt after a CKO workout.  Through the support that I received from wonderful instructors, not only did I reach my goal to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight with my twins, but I actually lost more than that and now weigh less that I did the day I was married over 15 years ago!  Since joining CKO, I have lost more than 60 lbs and I am in the best shape of my life.  I enjoy weight lifting, road & trail running & have completed a wide range of obstacle course races ranging from the Foam Fest to earning my triple Trifecta in the Reebok Spartan Race series. As a mom of 3 that works full time and has a very demanding schedule, I understand how difficult it can be to find the time to take care of yourself, your kids, and everything else. My experience inspired me to become an instructor, 10 week nutritional coach, and a certified personal trainer to help others change their lives and reach their personal fitness goals. What I love most about instructing is that I get the opportunity to meet so many different people at many different fitness levels & pay my experience forward and make a positive impact on their lives.  I may have a reputation for being “tough”, but that is because I know first hand that if you want results, you have to push yourself and CKO = Results!

    First of all, after tuedsays class i was kicking myself for not having tried your class earlier! Loved your energy, the way you push us to our max and now after reading your blog I am just amazed/amazed and then some… RESPECT!
    you talked about already knowing what you had to eat but needing that accountability…well , that one sentence hit me & resonated with me so much.
